In 2020, a serious water leakage problem was discovered along the north foundation wall of the hall.  Engineered testing was completed and showed the integrity of the north and east walls were compromised, and in a matter of years, the walls could collapse with continued deterioration  from the water issue along with the weight of the building above.

Utilizing funds in reserve, along with the generosity of our community members, the Foothills County and the Government of Alberta, the $160,000 renovation was completed.  The longevity of the Square Butte Hall will remain for decades to come.
